Your recent articles about the San Jose State's Women's Volley Ball team actually reminded me of something a friend of mine said. I know no one wants to be compared to dogs but she said "genotype by phenotype' was the best way to consider a dog. It means parentage and situation of birth don't matter as much as how the dog is. [Again, sorry I don't mean that any specific group are dogs.] Based on appearance and action (phenotype) this woman isn't any different from other women on her team.

Transgender people who aren't gender-conforming deserve respect too. But this destroys the case for demonizing trans people because of “safety”. They can't even give a decent reason why she's a danger to others while other players with the same traits aren't.

I'm ashamed that my alma mater, the University of Wyoming, was one of the teams that forfeited to San Jose State.

This is great. Thanks.

So can I discretely ask a trans friend to open a stuck jar lid for me without leaning in to anti-trans bigotry? Because salsa jars are very frustrating for me.

It has to be a trans friend who has spent time in Mexico. Opening a salsa jar is a very special skill.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕, 𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅.

True, but bigots don't believe that, or want to believe that. They think solely in terms of black (evil) and white (good), where they, and those who look and think like them, are good, but everyone else is evil. Trans girls and women are evil, so are trans boys and men, but for now, the bigots are concentrating on trans girls and women. They manage to find time to demonize other marginalized groups, like Haitian immigrants, but never, ever have the time to help people in need or to make life better for anyone.

Ever wonder why trans men aren't smashing records in men's sports?

As a trans man myself, it’s because I was never good enough at any sports to want to compete in the first place. Also, I’m almost 40.

Is it the same reason why trans women aren't smashing records in women's sports?

> The purpose of these adult sports [like Roller Derby and Softball], like most sports, is not to beat other human beings into the dirt.

I'm confused, I thought Roller Derby was about "beating other human beings into the dirt"! Did I mess up something in my conception of the sport?

Okay, in fairness I might have sold Roller Derby a little short in the "beating other humans into the dirt" aspect, but I still maintain that hardwood flooring is not, technically, "dirt".
