I've been in a queer concert band and marching band for over a decade now. This has given me the opportunity to play all over the country, to be the first queer band to perform at any number of major mainstream events in my city (July 4th, Christmas parade, Thanksgiving parade, on TV even!) and to be part of ensembles that have performed world premieres, perhaps the most amazing of which was the piece "John and Jim", performed last summer in Columbus, Ohio for its living namesake, Jim Obergefell. I've also been the president of this band in the past, and nothing says loving like wrangling several dozen musical queers. And next year I'm going to be part of two more amazing events with this crowd.

When I put it like that damn. I've done a lot!

This is gorgeous. I love the poetry in it.

Painting with words is a skill all its own! ❤️

At some point I might have the occasional short fiction days on my own stack. I feel like it is easier to be poetic when reality isn’t constraining me.

:curtsy:

Writing, for me, is very much an attempt to give expression to the artist in me that can't fucking paint or draw worth a damn. Thank goodness I have poetry.

But seriously. What have you given to queer culture? I'd love to hear your stories.
