The left are more likely to resort to throwing milkshakes as opposed to shooting or stabbing someone. We'd rather our opponents be seen for the fools they are (which explains why we have the better comedians) and roundly mocked out of office than see their lives taken.

Of course, that doesn't mean we're not perfectly willing, and capable,of fighting back against violent fascists who are out to kill us.

This is such a great article and too many of the decision-makers don't listen to this.

"To expect a violent, gun-laden household to fire only at the neighbours is an unreasonable denial of everything we know of human nature. Members of the media seeking truthful, useful understanding of this weekend’s attack must look to the Right first."

But that would violate the Holy Law Of Bothsides. They may have to grotesquely mischaracterize a statement by Biden to balance the Heritage mofo saying out loud "Our Revolution will be bloodless, π˜ͺ𝘧 𝘡𝘩𝘦 π˜“π˜¦π˜§π˜΅ 𝘒𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 π˜ͺ𝘡 𝘡𝘰 𝘣𝘦".

I had to unsubscribe to one Substack contributor yesterday because they tried to β€œbothsides” this bullshit.

β€œWell, TBF, the leftists did call Trump a threat to democracy.” 🀬

When you secretly support the right while trying to maintain some air of centralism or "being above the fray", hearing the truth makes you mad, because it reflects that you have made poor choices in your life.

Hence personal level "bothsideism".

Professional bothsideism is driven either from greed (the media), or as a defence mechanism to protect your "team" (the GOP)

Assgadget libelz! Those at least serve a fun and sometimes necessary purpose. Pelvic floor strengthening, for example.

Seriously though, your article is on point. Violent rhetoric begets violence. Violence begets more violence. Seeing the Left condemn the attacks and the Right immediately call for retribution, even in the face of learning that it was one of their own shows they only know violence now

My comment to SER at PTG:

(Thanks for a more complete, accurate, analysis )

Trump is an agent of chaos and violence. This shooting is just another example of his chickens coming home to roost, IMNSOHFO.

It is my intuition that this is something that is starting to resonate with actual voters (whether they realize it or not), his β€œvictimhood” and β€œbravado” notwithstanding.

This. Elections are a game of addition. Where is Fat Nixon adding voters? he has the violent white supremacist vote locked up. Continuing to hammer on their favorite themes isn't inducing others to come to his side.

It would be nice, though, if our side didn't act like panicked cats at the slightest noise. Like Biden having a bad day at the debate.

Yeah I don't see how this changes the fundamentals; this guy is a 34-count felon sexual predator who on his best days had a three-ring circus swirling around him. He's made his campaign more restrictive, more based on revenge.

But Democrats want to do an in-kind donation by shivving their own candidate.
